Metroid Prime 3: Corruption was just released here in the US a few weeks ago. The title has gone on to be both a critical and commercial success. Retro Studios, the development team behind the title and the previous Metroid Prime's, have revealed, though, that they're already beginning their next project.
MTV sat down with Mark Pacini, who directed Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, and he left a small hint regarding their next project. One of the concerns some Nintendo fans have had, is that Retro Studios may be "forced" to work on casual titles, since they are fully owned by Nintendo, and some of Nintendo's focus has been on the casual market, as of late.
"One of the things we've always been told by Nintendo of Japan is they say they appreciate us as a studio because we make games they can't make," Pacini said. "Their specialty is in the casual market. Their specialty is in the platforming and more traditional games."
It doesn't seem like fans should be worrying, however, as Retro Studios seems intent on making more titles in the vein of the Metroid Prime series.
"I'm really excited about what we're working on next. If people enjoy the kinds of games Retro makes, I don't think they're going to be disappointed about what we're doing," Pacini stated.
We'll just have to patiently wait until more is revealed. Stay tuned.
