More details still under wraps.
October 5, 2007 | 7:46 AM PSTBrawl's story mode, The Subspace Emissary, will feature co-op play, a world map and a story that follows groups of characters.
From the screens, the Subspace Emissary mode looks to work a lot like Melee's adventure mode by taking on 2D side-scrolling gameplay. Two players can work together in this mode which will follow the main character but if the second player is left off-screen he will teleport back to the first player unless he knocked off screen by an enemy.
When you lose a stock in Subspace Emissary you will be revived as the other person on your team and after losing all your stock you lose. Your teams are unlocked as the story progresses and you can decide the order you are revived in.
There will be a main map which will most likely feature various missions to choose and perhaps different paths. As the story progresses, the character will encounter new friend's depending how the story develops.
There are five modes of difficulty ranging from easy to intense. For players that want to unlock everything, intense is a must.
Finally, Masahiro Sakurai leaves this final message in the update, "There's a method for powering yourself up as needed to do battle with the Subspace Army—a method that has not been seen before. Masahiro Sakurai said. "I'll explain this in great detail another time."
