Nintendo of Europe Offering Replacement Disc for Glitch Copies of Super Paper Mario
While not game-breaking or damaging to Wii, the glitch can cause the game to freeze while playing in a very specific section of the game.

Back in September, when Super Paper Mario was finally released in PAL territories, it came packed with a little more than players asked for. A glitch was uncovered while playing Super Paper Mario in UK English, German or Spanish. The issue itself only appears during a very specific part of the game, and it's possible to avoid entirely. Regardless, if you're in Europe and up for a new copy of the game with the glitch corrected, Nintendo of Europe is shipping them, free of charge.

The glitch itself appears at the start of Chapter 2-2, during your interaction with one of the characters named Mimi. She'll tell you to go to the farthest room on the first floor to meet a character named Merlee. Upon entering the room, flop the green switch, and a trap will be triggered. A spiked ceiling will descend upon Mario, and before the ceiling reaches him, the player must flip into 3D and jump on top of the ceiling to find a key. If you pick up the key, and then proceed to talk to Mimi, you won't run into any problems. But, if you don't pick up the key and head over to Mimi, the game will freeze. It does no permanent damage to the Wii console, but you will have to start over again from your last save point.

The shipment for the new, glitch-free Super Paper Mario is available now. You can either call 0870 6060 247 or send an email with the subject "Super Paper Mario replacement" to NintendoServiceCentre@codestorm.co.uk to go about the process for a replacement disc.
