EA today said there are no current plans for a Wii version of Rock Band, but that doesn't rule out one entirely.

We'd imagine given Guitar Hero's runaway success on the casual-friendly Wii, EA might've felt it was a poor decision to omit a Wii version from the cards this year. Apparently, not, though. EA's Bryce Baer today said that EA maintains that there are no current plans for a Wii version at this time -- despite the feature lacking PS2 version already seeing a release.
Back in April 2007, Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopulos did provide strong backing for an eventual Wii release. When queried about a Wii version, he enthusiastically said there would "absolutely" be a possibility for it.
"We will, at some time, bring Rock Band to every [important] platform. I think the Wiimote is something that holds enormous promise," said Rigopulos in April 2007.
So, it appears Wii owners are going to have to sit tight for a Rock Band release on the console. In the interim, there's always Guitar Hero III to keep occupied with.
