New Wario Land: The Shake Dimension Scans and Details
June 13, 2008 | 8:58 AM PST
Some new details and better scans have come up from SomethingAwful.com, as a forum member there decided to translate the blurb which appeared the other day in the scan revealing animated cut-scenes.
In addition, thanks to some new, uncut scans in a higher resolution (which you can see below at full size by clicking them), the game seems to carry a different art style from the norm (and I was worried they'd simply cheapen out on the animation). And as reported before, but more clearly now, you can see the cel-shaded Wario for yourself. It seems much like New Super Mario Bros., were the characters and items given cel-shading, over a drawn background.
In addition to stating the the cut-scenes will be fully voiced and that the game is being made by the Ganbare Goemon which split from Konami, SA provides a translation of the story:
Within an Ancient Globe (an old, giant globe exhibited at a museum), there is another world called Yuretopia (translator: "yure" = tremor/shaking).
Yuretopia's peace is shattered by the marauding pirate Shay King (translator: whatever). Queen Melfull and her Melfull subjects are imprisoned. Not only that, Shay King claims the legendary treasure "Deldel Purse," which spits out coins whenever it is shaken.
Captain Maple Syrup, the female pirate, observes Yuretopia's crisis from the outside world. Setting her eyes on the legendary treasure but with no desire of doing the dirty work herself, she steals the Ancient Globe and sends it to Wario.
True to form, Wario prepares to raid the beleaguered kingdom when Queen Melfull escapes to the outside world in hopes of finding help. Beseeched by the Queen to become a hero to the kingdom, Wario sets off to Yuretopia where the promise of vast treasures beckons...
And, as promised, the scans, so that you may gaze upon the awesomeness for yourself:

And so far, it looks like no nose picking! Just classic Wario wickedness.
