What Took So Long for Nintendo's SD Card Storage Solution?
October 6, 2008 | 4:49 PM PST
Since the console's launch, Wii owners have been vocal about the system's lack of storage space for things like game saves and downloads, demanding that Nintendo address the issue. Last week, Nintendo finally announced a solution -- enabling the option to save data to an SD Card. Considering SD Card support has been available in the Wii since its release, we're curious what took Nintendo so long to allow it to be used in this manner. At Nintendo's recent Media Summit event, we asked the company's Senior Director of Corporate Communications, Charlie Scibetta, what took so long to give gamers this solution.
We heard the gamers, there was frustation there. We hate hearing that so we tried to create a solution for it and we're still listening, we'll see what the response is to this and see how it goes. To why it took so long, I can tell you that quality control is job number one for us. We don't want to get it out there until we know it's going to work, we don't want to get it out there until we know that it's going to be a good easy intuitive interface. Hopefully good things come to those that wait. -- Charlie Scibetta
We'll be posting our full interview with Scibetta soon.
