Fifteen months after its release, Super Mario Galaxy remains the undisputed choice among video game critics for the best game on Nintendo's popular white console.
In fact, only one game has even come close.
According to Metacritic, a Web site that aggregates review scores from the most credible print and online sources, Mario's interstellar platformer has maintained a phenomenal combined score of 9.7 out of 10.
The closest competition since has been WiiWare sensation World of Goo, released to the Wii Shop Channel in October. It fell just shy of Galaxy's tally, accumulating an impressive 9.4 aggregate score.
Filling out Metacritic's list of the ten best-reviewed Wii games are the Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (9.5), World of Goo (9.4), Super Smash Bros. Brawl (9.3), Rock Band 2 (9.2), Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition (9.1), Okami (9.0), Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (9.0), Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure (8.7) and Bomberman Blast (8.6).
Despite claims of weak third-party Wii support, six of the ten games atop the list were released by third-party publishers. Only four were published by Nintendo.
