Rumor: Tons of Punch-Out!! Info
April 17, 2009 | 4:16 PM PST

Some new information has cropped up about Punch-Out!! over at Dpad. In fact, a lot of information. I'm not sure if they got it by a review copy (seems a touch soon), or by other unnamed means, hence the rumor tag. But Dpad usually seems to have their stuff straight, so I'm inclined to believe it's on the level.

I don't want to steal their thunder by reprinting the list in its entirety here, but I will post some I find to be of particular interest below:

  • Bear Hugger and Don Flamenco are in.
  • Motion controls or classic control, Balance Board compatible
  • Giga Mac is activated through a "Giga" gauge next to your health bar, dodge and land punches to fill it
  • 3 challenges per boxer which if executed will reward you with unlockables
  • There will be a holographic boxer to practice on that never dies, which is there to learn patterns
  • "Alot" of unlockables including characters, ring environments, victory animations and music, among others
  • When you complete a circuit Little Mac's outift will change color, starting with green, then blue, etc (I remember the original did something like this)
  • Unlike other Punch-Out games you will have the ability to use all 3 stars at once, doing so will unleash the triple star spinning uppercut. Think about it as the equal to the Dragon Punch from Street Fighter
  • When you progress through the circuits so will your rings. You will start in a small ring then build up to a stadium as you go
  • If you lose 100 times you will earn the training helmet which makes you invulnerable

And among the others I've left behind, they've got a "biggie" that occurs upon beating the game, which Nintendo is apparently trying to keep hush-hush. Find out what it is, and everything else they've got, right here.
