Wuhu Island Goes Military for Nintendo's Wii Sports Resort Pre-Launch Party
July 14, 2009 | 5:14 PM PST
Next week, Nintendo is planning on celebrating its release of Wii Sports Resort in style.
As they have done with so many other games, they are going to be holding festivities in New York City, only this time it won't be the Nintendo World Store doing the honors; this release is much too big for that.
Instead, they will be transforming the famed Military Island in Times Square into a sort of urban island getaway from 9am to 3pm on Thursday, July 23rd. Visitors will be treated to a "mini-vacation" on a sandy beach, complete with a swimming pool and tropical lounge. Oh, and you can even get to play the game in advance of its July 26th release date, too.
"Based on the imaginative Wuhu Island locale featured in the game, this interactive oasis will also offer game demonstrations, giveaways (while supplies last) and a bar serving tropical non-alcoholic drinks," states the press release.
For those hoping to attend, the address is as follows:
Military Island
7th Avenue and Broadway Avenue
Between 43rd and 44th streets, Manhattan, NY 10036
Wow, I wish I could go. Guess I'll just have to settle for getting the game when it comes out. But unfortunately, like some launch events, they don't mention any chance of getting the game ahead of release.
