Dennis Dyack: "The Future is Bright" for Eternal Darkness
August 17, 2009 | 9:15 AM PST

I hope that for most of you, the name Dennis Dyack brings to mind the brilliant titles that Silicon Knights developed for the GameCube and not Too Human, the lackluster Xbox 360 title. Both Eternal Darkness and Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes were fantastic titles for Nintendo's platform and go down in history as two of the most beloved games of the last generation. Dyack, the president of Silicon Knights, leads a team that is passionate about making unique and interesting new games, and I'm sure they've got some big plans in store for gamers in the coming years.

That is why, at this year's Gamescom, the guys at IGN made a point to speak with him about his latest title and the possibility of an Eternal Darkness sequel. While Dyack was unwilling to share much info at the event, one of his comments was particularly interesting. When asked about the future of the Eternal Darkness franchise Dyack said, "I get that question asked probably about once a week. You know we love Eternal Darkness. We're big fans of it. I think the future is bright in that regard, but there's no comments to make whatsoever."

The future is bright? Sounds like a sequel to me.

Additionally, Dyack was asked about his latest title that was leaked a few months ago. The game, dubbed Siren in the Maelstrom, was revealed by Telefilm Canada, and when asked about the announcement, Dyack replied, "I wish they hadn't done that."

That's about all Silicon Knights was willing to divulge, and while it may not seem like much, Dyack's comments on Eternal Darkness will definitely give fans of the franchise something to talk about.
