Yesterday, we went ahead and caved in to peer pressure and reported a rumor that voice actor Charles Martinet, who has portrayed Mario and others in numerous games, had let it be known that a new Mario title of some sort was in development.

Ah, what a difference 24 hours makes; the tweets are no longer on the Twitter, and GameSpot managed to get word from Nintendo on the matter, which was about what you would expect: "We're always working on new games and experiences, but we have nothing to announce at this time," said a representative for Nintendo.

Meanwhile, another rumor reported by GoNintendo has begun to spread, noting that Famitsu subscribers are presently without their current copies of the magazine. Word is that the new issue is being held back so that they can coordinate an announcement with Nintendo. Could this be related to the Mario rumor?

Maybe, maybe not. In fact, I would dismiss the rumor simply on account of the fact that Famitsu has never seemed to have a problem with spilling the beans before a big announcement before, why the sudden concern?
